Notes: Hugh Alexander Bradshaw's business interests

1847, 4th January, advertising the fact building materials are coming from St. John's N.B. on three different ships very soon.  Also he will be taking passengers for St Johns, New York, Philadelphia and Quebec sailing from 15 Feb to 15 May. Signed Bradshaw & Co., Enniskillen and Donegal.

1848, 1st April, advertising more passenger sailings, with a list of agents, signed Bradshaw & Co., Diamond Donegal and Quay- lane, Enniskillen.

In an old Historical Society hand book of Enniskillen, there is an article on Steamboats and Railways, c. 1848, where it states that H A Bradshaw, among others, used sand-boats before the canals were excavated, not only to bring sand from near Castlecaldwell but to convey timber, slates, and coal from Belleek, conveyed thither from ships in Ballyshannon. H A Bradshaw had a big boat of 30 tons, the Martha, which went to Belleek and called at Pettigo; a tug steamer called the Shamrock pulled the barges from the canals to Enniskillen. He also floated large rafts of timber from Belleek to Enniskillen.

In 1867, on 15 August, Captain John Lawson sailed as Master of the "ALMA" from Glasgow, Scotland, the British Sailing Vessel, registered at London England, official number 26132, 302 Tons owned by Hugh A Bradshaw, Enniskillen, of  Fermanagh Ireland. John Lawson sailed from Ireland on 22 August 1867 bound for Quebec, Canada and was never heard of again. The vessel is supposed to have foundered.

1884, 7th Feb, and 19th, advertising more passenger sailings, with a list of agents to be contacted about tickets, one agent is

called Mr. Wm. D. Bradshaw, Harlem. Signed Bradshaw & Co., Diamond Donegal; or at their Office, Quay-lane, Enniskillen.
