Mary Jane Scott's mothers portrait
Letter from T. W. Conolly
Portrait of my Grandaunt Jane Scott ne'e Conolly
"This portrait by Cregan, President of the Royal
Acadamy, Dublin, painted about 1836 was bequeathed to me by
her neice my father's first cousin Margaretta Toolis of
Covehithe, Somerfield road, Worthing in Sussex, England,
wife of Daniel Tollis sometime of Worlington Rectory, Soham
Suffolk, Clerk in Holy Orders - This portrait was in the
possession of my grandaunt Jane Scott's daughter Mary Jane
wife of John Bradshaw of Barbados for many years. His
brother James Bradshaw sent it to cousin Margarette as
Bradshaw was the son of Rev. John Bradshaw my cousin,
Margaretta's uncle. I may incidently note one of my
godfathers was Revd. Wm Hanna Bradshaw of Barbados.
My cousin Margaretta desires this portrait to be
regarded as a family heirloom. I have passed it on to arnold
to be in his care and after my decease to make provision at
the discretion to whom it should pass from him so as to
comply with my cousin's request."
